What I wanted most for my daughter was that she be able to soar confidently in her own sky, whatever that may be.

First of all, you have not disappointed me. Honestly, baby girl, I can’t think of what you could do that would disappoint me. You know that I want you to be happy. We both know that ” happy” and how we get there can be very different to different people. You and I figured out a long time ago that our brains are not wired the same way. We have learned to respect, if not always agree with our differences. But….you NEVER disappoint me! Don’t you know that you are my standard of what an ideal woman should be? (I know…I just called you a woman!) Don’t you know how much I admire you? If you don’t, then I have failed as a mother. You are beautiful, intelligent, funny….You are strong, with just the right amount of vulnerability. You stand up for yourself, for what’s right and for those who can’t stand up for themselves. Life has not always been easy for you between things going on at home and trying so hard to do the right thing, even when you stood alone. How my heart broke for you during those times but how very, very proud of you I was and in awe because you didn’t compromise your morals and principles just to be part of the crowd.YOU taught ME so much. You taught me not to cave in as much as I had before. You taught me to have more self respect. You taught me that if a value IS indeed a VALUE, we need to treat it as such. Thank you! This is only one of many lessons you have taught me in the past 19 years. You have been my heart, my inspiration. You have been my reason to get up in the morning. But you have never, ever been a disappointment.
